the scheme would be better in another part of the city where there is lots of housing and people are likely to commute to and from work. Woodseats/Heely though to town would be a much better scheme.I think the council is putting cycle lanes in parts of the city where its easy to put them not where they are really needed like on routes from the city through to the peak district where people will use them for leisure.

After looking at others' submissions I'd like to add: The section of segregated cycle lane through the shopping area of Attercliffe (part of the Attercliffe Road section) reminds me of the segregated cycle route in Manchester on Oxford Road going through Rusholme. Whilst that's great for cycling, it has been somewhat at the expense of pedestrians who have ended up with too-narrow footpaths by trying too hard to also accommodate on-street parked vehicles. I believe that Attercliffe's prospects are looking up, and would expect Attercliffe centre to attract more pedestrians, particularly with the improved environment these proposals will create. I think the proposed 'red route' along this section is therefore vital to maximise the amount of space that can be provided for pedestrians and cyclists to ensure the smooth passage of both: Having more of both means more people are around and will lead to Attercliffe centre feeling a safer place. I'd also agree with others commenting that cycle routes should go around the back of bus stops rather than through them, esp. considering people exiting buses and not necessarily realising they're alighting on a cycle lane.

(already commented so I've not clicked on any of the good/bad etc buttons) I wanted to add that I particularly like that the scheme (and the other Connecting Sheffield schemes) are bringing in segregated cycle lanes, meaning that inexperienced cyclists don't have to immediately start their cycling on-road, esp. when these are busy roads: This is a significant deterrent to starting cycling in the first place, so I commend this aspect of the proposals, and similarly I also really like the use of "continuous cycle tracks", esp. having ramps at junctions to maintain their level at footpath level - giving a psychological hint that cyclists have right of way, reinforcing the message given by road markings at these locations; perhaps this right of way should also exist for pedestrians at these locations too? (and even if this right of way isn't always respected, the ramps will ensure that motor vehicles are more slow-moving at these locations, reducing the severity of any accidents)

I think this is an excellent proposal. I think motor traffic takes too much priority in Darnall and Attercliffe at present, making it intimidating for people to walk or cycle: These proposals adjust this balance somewhat which should transfer some journeys from motor vehicles to walking and cycling, resulting in some reduction in air pollution, health improvements for those newly travelling under their own steam, and a generally improved environment for all. I am however disappointed that some of the proposals don't extend further. In particular Bernard Road would benefit from good cycle provision to cross both the railway and Parkway - with few crossing points across these, they need to cater to all transport modes. Similarly Woodbourn Road would benefit from upgrading the existing inconvenient and limited cycle provision that currently exists heading towards Wybourn and Manor. The segregated cycle provision along Attercliffe Common would benefit from extending further north-east to Meadowhall, encouraging work and leisure (shopping) travel by foot and bike from Attercliffe and Darnall instead of motor vehicle. I'm glad to see that the Darnal Road section is proposed with a possible extension to the AMRC, whilst recognising that's only if the funding can be found. I'm glad to see mention of a high-quality crossing of Staniforth Road at the end of the Shirland Lane section to access the housing (and mosque) there.
