The use of Blackburn Meadows Way as a road for all road users really angers me. It was built as a bus lane for BRT with the funding provided for this purpose and then has been opened up for all road users without consultation, in an area with illegally poor air quality. It is a case of public transport funding ending up building new roads where new roads wouldn't have been approved. Blackburn Meadows Way should be converted entirely over to a cycleway.

An improvement on the existing facilities, but perhaps not as good as it could be – though I understand funds are limited and need to be spent for maximum benefit. Cycle paths on Sheffield Road are great and connect with matching facilities over the border in Rotherham – well thought through, but perhaps too many white lines and not enough kerbs providing segregation. Will bollards or 'armadillos' be used in addition to white markings on these sections? Too many shared crossings and paths, when such a major route should have fully segregated cycle paths. All bus stops should have a cycle path bypass. Complicated crossing moves at Tinsley and Meadowhall – have to cross vehicular carriageways several times in several moves between Templeborough and connections with existing routes at Meadowhall. Could these be reduced/simplified? At a minimum will traffic signals be synchronised to allow cycles to cross in a single move? Could Blackburn Meadows Way have a two-way cycle path on the north side along its whole length, with the footway along the south side, eliminating need for a shared crossing at the Meadowhall end and having a simpler segregated crossing at the Tinsley end, adjacent to Ferrars Rd?

Lighting to allow the route Sheffield to Rotherham to feel like an achievable commute even if I’m coming home when dark. No A frame gates. Canal sections to have grit down so no silly levels of mud. Main route to be kept open not closed with no notice- if I’m selling my car I need to be able to rely on this being passable. I’d like to have the option to take my ebike on the train reliably if the weather is bad and cycle each end without having to book in advance. Safe parking at Meadowhall with cctv that fits large (fat tyre) ebikes is essential. Separate cycle ways so that ebikes can safely commute without wandering pedestrians getting in the way is a safety must.
